Curfew, Shutdown continue across Kashmir | KNO

Normal life in Kashmir valley on Monday remained affected due to the curfew, restrictions and strike following the killing of top militant commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Sabzar Bhat, his aide in South Kashmir’s Tral township on Saturday. Curfew, restrictions remain placed across Kashmir Valley on second consecutive day on Monday as there was heavy deployment of government forces in f Srinagar areas and other districts and town of valley to stop the escalation of protests, Meanwhile a complete shutdown is being observed across the Kashmir as the resistance camp has called for two-day strike to protest the killing of the two militants and the use of ‘brute force’ against protesters. Thousands of people Sunday participated in the funeral prayers of slain Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Sabzar Bhat at his native Rathsuna village. In Srinagar, restrictions have been imposed in seven police station areas — Khanyar, Nowhatta, Safakadal, M R Gunj, Rainawari, Kralkhud and Maisuma — as a precautionary measure, officials said. Restrictions have also been imposed in Anantnag, Pulwama and Shopian districts in south Kashmir and in Sopore town in north Kashmir. They said restrictions on the assembly and movement of more than four people, under CrPC Section 144, were imposed in Budgam and Ganderbal districts in central Kashmir. Several people have been injured in violent clashes between protesters and government forces in various parts of the valley following the killing of the two Hizbul Mujahideen militants. A civilian was also killed after being fired by government forces near the encounter site in Soimoh Tral on Saturday .
